AQT and Quantum Rings Unlock Global Quantum Access

Alpine Quantum Technologies (AQT) integrated their flagship quantum technology into Quantum Rings on 2026, a major decision for quantum computing. Researchers and businesses can now easily use the trapped-ion quantum computer, one of the industry’s most advanced technology.

Breaking the Barrier to Quantum Entry

The main goal of the collaboration is to include AQT’s IBEX Q1 quantum computer into the Open Quantum ecosystem. In the past, tight integration or intricate discussions with certain cloud providers were necessary to obtain high-end quantum hardware. With the help of this new partnership, people all around the world may now communicate with AQT’s hardware through a single API, greatly reducing the cost and technical obstacles to practical experimentation.

The project offers a considerable incentive to further promote adoption: every ninety days, users of the Open Quantum platform will earn $50 in free compute credits. This eliminates the need for a large upfront investment and enables developers, educators, and industry pioneers to begin testing circuits and comparing results across several hardware backends right away.

Under the Hood: The IBEX Q1

The IBEX Q1, a system that demonstrates AQT’s dedication to high-performance, compact quantum solutions, is at the center of this announcement. The IBEX Q1 is a powerful instrument for research and development because of a number of noteworthy features.

  1. Qubit Count: Twelve high-stability qubits are present.
  2. Gate Fidelity: 98.85%, which guarantees excellent accuracy for intricate computations.
  3. Connectivity: The IBEX Q1 has fully-connected (all-to-all) connection, in contrast to several rival architectures. This lowers the overhead needed for circuit mapping and may boost the effectiveness of quantum algorithms by enabling direct communication between any two qubits.

Because of these characteristics, the system is especially well-suited for university research, enterprise Proof of Concepts (PoC), and High-Performance Computing (HPC) integration.

Strategic Vision from AQT Leadership

According to AQT CEO Thomas Monz, the partnership with Quantum Rings aims to foster a diverse ecosystem, not just hardware access. The company is excited to see how users will use their quantum systems. We hope that this partnership will allow those who might not have had access to our technology in the past to freely experiment and push a wider range of application cases toward true quantum value.

The company, which has its headquarters in Innsbruck often referred to as the “home of ion trap quantum computing” is aiming toward general-purpose quantum computers that may support a variety of industries, such as cutting-edge research, industrial optimization, and public authority services.

A Season of Rapid Momentum

In early 2026, AQT made a number of strategic initiatives, the most recent of which being the merging with Quantum Rings. The business has continued to grow and collaborate at a breakneck pace:

  • March 2, 2026: AQT introduced IVY, an optical filter cavity module that suppresses high-frequency phase noise, improving quantum process precision.
  • February 18, 2026: The corporation launched on its Scaleway cloud collaboration to strengthen European digital sovereignty by offering localized quantum resources.
  • February 10, 2026: AQT became a core participant in the 50 million euro European Quantum pilot (P4Q), a major partnership to boost Europe’s quantum manufacturing capability.

How to Get Started

The procedure is made to be quick for developers that are anxious to try the IBEX Q1. In just a few minutes, users can submit their first circuit by installing the Open Quantum SDK, authenticating their accounts, and choosing the AQT backend. Cross-sector cooperation and education are made possible by the platform’s uniform access layer.

Conclusion: Towards a Quantum Future

AQT and Quantum Rings are tackling one of the biggest issues in the field the “quantum gap” between high-level theory and real-world experimentation by putting the potential of 12-qubit trapped-ion technology into a cloud-accessible, API-driven format. The international community now has one more effective weapon to unleash the potential of the quantum era as AQT continues to innovate from its Experience Center in Austria.
