SQT Partners with D-Wave to Deploy Advanced Quantum system

Swiss Quantum Technology and D-Wave Sign a €10 Million Agreement for European Quantum Deployment

Italian Digital Transformation Goals Will Be Accelerated by an Advanced 4,400+ Qubit Advantage2 System to Promote Energy-Efficient Quantum Applications

To implement a D-Wave Advantage2 annealing quantum computer in Europe, Swiss Quantum Technology SA (SQT) and D-Wave Quantum Inc., a prominent provider of quantum computing hardware, software, and services, have reached a significant deal. Unveiled at the Digital Innovation Forum ComoLake 2025, the historic agreement highlights a common goal to accelerate production-grade, energy-efficient quantum applications and provide access to quantum computing.

The transaction includes an option to buy the state-of-the-art equipment, as well as a significant €10 million commitment from SQT. Enhancing Europe’s position at the forefront of quantum technology is the goal of this investment.

Advantage2: The Power of D-Wave’s Newest Processor

At the heart of this European growth is D-Wave’s most recent flagship product, the D-Wave Advantage2 system. This annealing quantum computer has the most sophisticated quantum processor D-Wave has ever produced, with an astounding 4,400+ qubits. In order to support both quantum and hybrid quantum applications for commercial deployment, the Advantage2 system is tailored to be a potent and energy-efficient quantum computer.

The technology can resolve intricate computational issues that are now unsolvable by traditional computers. D-Wave CEO Dr. Alan Baratz stated that the Advantage2 system is an example of D-Wave’s dedication to providing innovative technology that may spur innovation in a variety of sectors.

In D-Wave’s continuous endeavors to increase worldwide access to its fleet of annealing quantum computers, Dr. Baratz described the collaboration with SQT as a significant turning point. Strategic Deployment Supporting Italy’s Q-Alliance

SQT’s ultra-modern quantum computing research center in Como, Italy, will host the single Advantage2 system. The recently established Q-Alliance project is directly aided by this advantageous location.

The Q-Alliance program seeks to empower Italy and support its vital Digital Transformation goals by establishing new global infrastructure in quantum computing. The Como facility’s 4,400+ qubit Advantage2 system makes SQT a vital tool for resolving challenging issues that traditional computers are unable to tackle. This action not only makes Italy more computationally capable, but it also establishes Italy as a pioneer in the study and advancement of quantum computing. SQT is driving advancement in a wide range of domains, including financial modeling, complex system optimization, materials science, logistics, drug development, and artificial intelligence.

This deployment is a paradigm change for companies that mostly rely on intricate simulations and optimization, which could lead to new levels of creativity and efficiency. Researchers predict that by 2026, advances in quantum machine learning will have increased by 50% due to increased computing capacity. There is also the possibility that within five years, the implementation of this technology, especially in effective energy management solutions, might lower carbon emissions by 10%.

In keeping with its commitment to European quantum leadership, SQT’s deployment of the Advantage2 system is an important step in leveraging the potential of quantum computing to propel future technical advancements and help Europe achieve its strategic goals.
