Balancing flexibility and scale on IBM Quantum systems

IBM was the first corporation to offer cloud-based quantum computing nine years ago on May 4, 2016. Through a number of cloud services, IBM still give access to the most potent quantum computers in the world today. These plans are referred to as IBM Quantum access plans.

The objective has always been to make quantum computing available to as many people as possible, which is why the developers recently renewed its Open Plan to provide free access to the quantum computers.

The Pay-as-you-go Plan charges by seconds, whereas the Premium Plan allows subscription-based economy of scale. Who are prepared for a longer commitment, for those who require greater access than everyone can supply through a free-tier plan. Everyone are aware, though, that the pace of quantum computing research and development may be less steady and more project-based for certain users. In certain situations, capacity is required in spurts, such as while preparing for a significant conference submission or during the height of a research cycle.

IBM tailored Flex Plan to help developers, research teams, and enterprise clients with compute-intensive quantum workloads. In order to more freely distribute purchased time to the busiest times of the year for their project’s experimentation, it enables customers to use pre-paid minutes throughout the year.

Potential Flex Plan users may be academics from startups investigating new quantum applications, or they could be concentrated teams piloting important workloads in domains like chemistry, machine learning, and optimization.
