SDT Inc. QuEra Alliance Strengthens Neutral-Atom Computing

The QuEra Quantum Alliance has officially SDT Inc., the top full-stack quantum company in South Korea, in a potent strategic alignment that might hasten the industrialization of quantum technology. The partnership, which was revealed today, is a major step towards enhancing neutral-atom quantum computing‘s potential and worldwide reach. Because of its ability to scale to previously unheard-of qubit numbers, this technique is frequently praised.

Through this agreement, SDT’s specialized knowledge of full-stack quantum design and production is combined with QuEra Computing’s world-class neutral-atom quantum hardware platforms. A strong force focused on converting scientific discoveries into workable, real-world industry solutions is produced by this union. The collaboration was hailed by QuEra Chief Commercial Officer Yuval Boger, who emphasised the vital synergy between the companies. QuEra’s leadership in neutral-atom computing is enhanced by SDT Inc. full-stack quantum design and manufacturing capabilities, he said, bolstering their joint push from research to real-world implementation.

This development is indicative of a growing quantum market, where the deployment of next-generation quantum infrastructure globally is increasingly dependent on extensive manufacturing and service capabilities, such as those provided by SDT.

The Convergence of Two Quantum Powerhouses

In 2018, MIT professor Vladan Vuletić and renowned Harvard physicist Mikhail Lukin formed QuEra Computing, which has now solidified its position at the forefront of the neutral-atom industry. The company’s successful $230 million Series B funding deal earlier in 2025 demonstrated its technological leadership.

This investment strengthened QuEra’s position as a key participant in the quantum ecosystem by attracting capital from well-known international firms including Google, SoftBank Vision Fund, and NVentures .

Earlier this year, QuEra also showed off its ability to deploy globally when it finished installing a $41 million neutral-atom quantum computer at Japan’s National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST). This sophisticated system works in tandem with the ABCI-Q supercomputer, which is powered by NVIDIA. In order to expedite the commercialization and industrial adoption of neutral-atom quantum computing, QuEra formed the QuEra Quantum Alliance. This alliance will work with industry partners and technological innovators such as SDT to address complex computational issues on a global scale.

SDT, the only end-to-end supplier of quantum technology in South Korea, joins the partnership under the direction of CEO Jiwon Yune. The business sets itself apart with its in-house Quantum Design & Manufacturing (QDM) platform.

This integrated strategy connects the frequently disparate domains of quality control, mass production, R&D, and commercialization. The QDM architecture guarantees the development, construction, and deployment of quantum software and hardware with industrial-grade dependability. To extend the commercial life of its neutral-atom systems, the QuEra Alliance aims to take advantage of this full-stack capacity. With SDT Inc. accession to the Alliance, its full-stack quantum capabilities and expanding worldwide footprint are acknowledged on a global scale.

Neutral-Atom Technology: The Scalability Advantage

Neutral-atom quantum computing, the technology they support, is at the heart of this strategic partnership. Neutral-atom systems make use of arrays of individual, uncharged (neutral) atoms, in contrast to rival technologies that rely on superconducting circuits, which necessitate multi-million dollar cryogenic refrigeration systems running at low temperatures. Optic tweezers, which are extremely concentrated laser beams, are used to control and trap these atoms, which are frequently rubidium.

Some of the most enduring challenges in quantum computing are addressed by this neutral-atom technique, which has clear and significant benefits. These benefits consist of:

  1. Exceptional Scalability: Systems with neutral atoms are renowned for their innate ability to grow to hundreds or even thousands of qubits. The development of massive, reconfigurable 2D and 3D arrays and dense packing made possible by the atoms’ small size offer a more direct route to the future of fault-tolerant quantum computers.
  2. Room-Temperature Operation: The ability of these systems to function at or close to room temperature is crucial. The hardware design is greatly simplified as a result, significantly lowering the physical footprint, cost, and complexity of cryogenic systems. Manufacturing and deployment are accelerated by this reduced system complexity.
  3. Low Noise and Coherence: Uncharged neutral atoms are less susceptible to electric interference from their surroundings. To compute accurately, the quantum state, or coherence, must be stabilized throughout time.

The transition of the industry from lab-based quantum prototypes to sturdy, dependable commercial machinery depends on these benefits. The goal of the QuEra Alliance is to use the potential of the neutral-atom platform by going beyond basic research to address computationally challenging issues in a range of fields, such as advanced logistics optimization, materials science, and drug discovery.

A Foundation of Trust and Shared Vision

A significant scholarly and personal relationship between the two firms’ leadership serves as another foundation for the new partnership. The CEO of SDT, Jiwon Yune, attended MIT to study electrical engineering and physics. Interestingly, he started his early research career in high school in Professor Vuletić’s lab. Established in the academic birthplace of quantum research, this long-standing professional alliance has developed into a vital worldwide corporate partnership that offers a smooth basis of mutual trust and technical vision.

This long-standing professional partnership, which was established at the academic birthplace of quantum research, has developed into a vital international business partnership that offers a smooth basis of mutual trust and technical vision.
In his remarks, CEO Yune emphasized the importance of the alignment for his business: “SDT Inc. has reached a significant milestone by joining QuEra’s global alliance. It demonstrates that we are not only a technology developer but also a complete manufacturer and supplier of quantum services. By merging SDT’s QDM skills with QuEra’s cutting-edge technology, we hope to make a significant contribution to the global quantum ecosystem.

Expanding South Korea’s Quantum Footprint

Between South Korea’s emerging local initiatives and the global quantum ecosystem, the cooperation serves as a vital channel. Leading the country’s creation of its own neutral-atom quantum framework has been SDT. In order to promote domestic cooperation and develop neutral-atom quantum computing technologies, the company inked a joint research agreement with prominent domestic organizations in December 2024, including Korea University, the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS), and LG Electronics, before joining the QuEra Alliance.

SDT hopes to strengthen its neutral-atom quantum ecosystem hub status by combining its strong local ties with QuEra’s cutting-edge technology and worldwide network. It is anticipated that the partnership will speed up the development of novel hardware components, knowledge transfer, and standardized manufacturing techniques specifically designed for quantum systems all of which are essential for reaching full industrial scale.

Quantum technology is a hot topic as nations and companies compete to dominate a field that could change computers. Thus, this US-South Korea relationship is a strategic use of manufacturing, financial, and intellectual resources. By combining SDT Inc. demonstrated capacity to industrialize complicated technology with QuEra’s longstanding scientific leadership and substantial financial support, the collaboration establishes a new international standard for the quick and effective implementation of scaled quantum computing solutions. The objective is unambiguous: to expedite the implementation of neutral-atom systems and establish this architecture as the favored alternative for the upcoming quantum decade.
